Whether it’s in regards to sex or race, here’s the fundamental problem with society’s current drive for equality…the idea that two wrongs make a right.
You don’t fix the “white male privilege” problem by over bombarding people with females or non-white races, no more than you would fix bullying by encouraging the beating up of bullies.
The push for equality seems to have become more about revenge, than about respect for all. If we are to move forward as a species, we have to instill in our youth the idea that all persons have value. But depending on the situation, that value may not be equal…and that is ok. Not all people are capable of running a mile in under 4 minutes. But the opportunity to try doing it, should never be taken away from anyone. That being said, we all can bring some value to this world and how we choose to do it, is purely up to us. And therein lies the problem with today’s current society. It wants to dictate to each of us, that actual value. It’s not about black being better than white or male being better than female. It’s about each having value in their own way. We as a society, need to stop dealing in comparative balancing. Otherwise, we will just continue this current pendulum of inequality.
